5mm Skate Soles

The STAND UP skate sole / brake sole is hand-poured using our new V2 Formula grippy urethane which is more durable than the original formula. The textured appearance is from our 3d printed mold tooling but rest assured these soles are hand-poured right in Ohio.

At 5 mm thick, they are flexible, feel good underfoot, preserve 'board feel' and have a locked-in feeling that reminds us of barefoot skating. These are designed with board grip in mind and less for foot-braking.

Rain grooves help channel water and provide consistent performance as the sole wears. The elimination of horizontally running tread minimizes chatter and does not hold dirt.

Soles are 13 inches (33 cm) long and fit up to a US size 13 shoe.

Ohio Wheel Co brake soles are compounded with special additives that cannot be machine-poured like a skateboard wheel. This means that every set of soles is hand-measured, blended, and poured by someone who skates. 

The small batch and special compounding mean some variation in color and appearance should be expected.

These can include:

• Small bubbles: the result of hand mixing even with our vacuum degassing process
• Streaking: often a result of compounding
• Dappling: this is also a result of compounding

These natural variations do not affect the performance of our brake soles, nor are they defects. We hope you enjoy a custom product designed by skaters, for skaters.
